THE official ball for the new Premier League season is here and it’s certainly an eye-catching design.
The Nike Merlin is the manufacturer’s first bespoke design solely for the English top flight and it comes with a flash of hot pink as its defining feature.
The winter version takes the pink colourway up a notch with a vivid design that is sure to be easy to spot under the lights.
Launched to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Nike’s partnership with the Premier League, the 2019-20 ball is said to be inspired by England’s urban landscapes.
Nike General Manager of Global Equipment Kieran Ronan explained the ball has been designed as a tribute to the pulsating tempo and passion of the Premier League.
He said: “We wanted to design a ball that specifically illustrated the traits of Premier League football.
“A ball that felt hyper-technical and precise in nature but also inspired by this English culture of living and breathing Premier League football.”
The ball is built with just four panels, which Nike says provides a bigger sweet spot for more spectacular shots.

In another set of stories, Sango is the son of Aganju and Obatala. As the story goes, Obatala, the king of the white cloth was travelling and had to cross a river. Aganju, the ferryman and god of fire, refused him passage so Obatala retreated and turned into a woman and traded his/her body for passage (this would later become a conspiracy theory about homosexuality existing even in the days of old). This tension between reason represented by Obatala and Aganju would form the foundation of Sango’s particular character and nature. Sango was said to have went in search of Aganju on which he had to throw himself into a lake of burning fire...
