Lagos court jails Global Genesis church founder, Israel Oladele, for defrauding UK based lady

 

A Lagos State High court today sentenced popular prophet and Sheperd-in-charge of CCC Global Genesis church, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe to two-year imprisonment for defrauding an American based woman, Daily Independent is reporting.

The trial judge, Justice Olabisi Akinlade sentenced Prophet Oladele after she found him guilty of two count charges out of the seven he was charged, in a judgment that lasted for about four hours sentenced the defendant, prophet Oladele to a year imprisonments for count two and four. She however discharged him of counts 1,3, 5 ,6 and 7 for lack of evidence against him.

This isn’t the first time Oladele would be enmeshed in a fraud case. In 2007, he was charged with seven counts charges bordering on fraud and obtaining money by false pretenses, preferred against him by the Lagos State government.

He was said to have defrauded one Mrs Olaide William Oni to the tune of eleven million naira (N11m).

He had however pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was brought before the court.

Sango was a royal ancestor of the Yoruba as he was the third king of the Oyo Kingdom. He succeeded Ajaka, son of Oranmiyan. His symbol is a double-headed axe, which represents swift and balanced justice. Mythologically, he (and 14 others) burst forth from the goddess Yemaja’s body after her son, Orungan, attempted to rape her for the second time. In another set of stories, Sango is the son of Aganju and Obatala. As the story goes, Obatala, the king of the white cloth was travelling and had to cross a river. Aganju, the ferryman and god of fire, refused him passage so Obatala retreated and turned into a woman and traded his/her body for passage (this would later become a conspiracy theory about homosexuality existing even in the days of old). This tension between reason represented by Obatala and Aganju would form the foundation of Sango’s particular character and nature.
